MASIC currently offers face-to-face support groups in the geographical areas listed below.

SOUTH WALES (CARDIFF/BARRY)

Support group for patients with birth injury and OASI. The meeting is in the MARY LENNOX SUITE.

Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

Children are welcome. It is a safe space and there are toys available to keep them entertained. Parental supervision will be required.

The meeting room has it’s own toilet facilities.

Cardiff bus 96A stops on Colcot Road near to the hospital. If you are driving, there is a free car park available on site.

 

SURREY, HAMPSHIRE AND BERKSHIRE (GUILDFORD)

Sustaining a severe injury whilst giving birth can be challenging to live with and difficult to talk about. This is a support group to allow women to talk confidentially in a safe space about their symptoms, or any complications that arise from living with a taboo injury.

Meet and chat to other women in Guildford. This group covers Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire. If you are out of those areas and want to join, you will be welcomed too!

This group is run by a MASIC Patient Advocate.

Free to attend. Refreshments available.

Pre-school children are allowed in attendance, but would have be supervised at all times.

NORTH WEST ENGLAND (MANCHESTER)

This group is based next to St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. It is run by a Qualified Healthcare Professional (HCP) and a MASIC Patient Advocate.

Meet women in your area who understand what it’s like to live with a birth injury. The HCP will be on hand for medical related questions and will offer advice on how to manage your daily needs.

Free to attend. Refreshments provided.

Pre-school children are allowed in attendance, but would have be supervised at all times.

LONDON (HILLINGDON)

This group is based in Hillingdon Hospital and out of hours. It is run by a Qualified Healthcare Professional (HCP).

Meet women in your area who understand what it’s like to live with a birth injury. The HCP will be on hand for medical related questions and will offer advice on how to manage your daily needs.

Free to attend. Refreshments provided.

Pre-school children are allowed in attendance, but would have be supervised at all times. It would be preferrable to attend without children, to allow all women in the support group to be able to be fully present and get the most out of their time in the support group.

Parking: Has a patient car park available. Public transport via buses stops outside the hospital.
