Gwyneth Munjoma, senior associate based in Chelmsford

I have been practicing clinical negligence law for many years and, unusually for a lawyer, I am also a qualified midwife with experience in hospital-based care and community care. This includes straightforward pregnancies and complicated pregnancies  This means that I have an in-depth and practical understanding of the processes of childbirth and the medical issues faced by mothers who have been injured during childbirth. I specialise in all obstetric clinical negligence claims and in particular those relating to childbirth injuries.

I have detailed knowledge of the standard of care that should be given to a woman throughout her pregnancy and childbirth. I understand the clinical situations in which claims resulting from negligence at or around the time of birth, may arise. I am skilled at communicating with medical experts and explaining their findings to my clients in non-medical jargon. This enables me to expertly support women and their families through the legal process.

“You took me through what would otherwise have been a very difficult process with absolute professionalism, calmness and understanding. I knew I was in good hands from the first day you talked to me about my case.”
