MASIC Chair Debra Bick Awarded OBE

Congratulations to our Chair Debra Bick who has been awarded an OBE ‘for services to midwifery’.

We are so proud of all she has achieved and she is truly deserving of this honour.

I was delighted to be recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for my services to midwifery.  It’s been a very difficult year, particularly for those giving birth, their partners, families and those providing maternity care, so I feel even more honoured that this award recognises the importance of midwifery alongside colleagues who stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic. The importance of ensuring women are at the centre of all decisions about their care and that we listen to women who have suffered birth injury, is essential if we are to ensure maternity services provide best care possible for women’s health in the future.  I hope my award helps to further raise the importance of the work of MASIC.
